Fusion Science Theater

Investigation. Participation. Demonstration.

Fusion Science Theater (FST) is a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) outreach program that uses the secrets of theater to create shows that actively engage children in learning science. FST Methods increase children’s interest, confidence, and understanding of scientific concepts. How do we know? Each show includes an embedded assessment that provides the data to prove it.

Thanks to funding from the National Science Foundation, FST shows have been performed by faculty, students, and informal science educators in classrooms, after-school programs, libraries, and museums around the country. Selected scripts are available in kits through the Institute of Chemical Education; others are free upon request.

We welcome you to explore the world of FST, where story, science and teaching come together to empower a new generation of science learners.

Fusion Science Theater uses the secrets of theater to create outreach shows that actively engage children in learning science. FSL is funded by the National Science Foundation and partially sponsored by Madison College. This program received national recognition in the media and the FSL director, Holly Walter Kerby, was named Community College Faculty of the Year in 2012 for her work with the project.
